My Natural Hair Journey: The BIG chop
Recalling my first couple of days going natural and embarking on my journey, I felt as if all eyes were on me. Why? Because my hair wasn’t fried dyed and laid to the side, like it usually is. My natural knots had been freed of the beauty industries harmful agenda. Pressure from men, media and society to look like the women in the magazines had reached a boiling point. I wanted to feel beautiful but not to the extent of damaging my hair. My satisfaction of instant beauty with weaves perms and dyes had prolonged the growth and glamour of my own natural hair. I decided to create my own image of beautiful, in my eyes. It was a spiritual awakening when I decided to not conform to societal norms. I’ve never felt so pretty.
